Each month we focus on a Step, Tradition, and Concept, and provide a quote from Bill W.
Step 11
Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
“The moment we catch even a glimpse of God’s will, the moment we begin to see truth, justice, and love as the real and eternal things in life, we are no longer deeply disturbed by all the seeming evidence to the contrary that surrounds us in purely human affairs.”
Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, p. 105
Tradition 11
Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion; we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio, and films.
”Here was something rare in the world—a society which said it wished to publicize its principles and its work, but not its individual members.”
Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, p. 182
Concept 11
The trustees should always have the best possible committees, corporate service directors, executives, staffs, and consultants. Composition, qualifications, induction procedures, and rights and duties will always be matters of serious concern.
“Because this group will form the visible image of World Service, most A.A.’s will measure our service values by what they see and feel in them. Members of this group will not only support the world leadership of the trustees; in the nature of the case they will be bound to share world leadership with them.”
