Notes from the Intergroup Meeting held June 21, 2023
Does your group have an Intergroup Representative (IGR)? Be sure your group’s voice is being heard by electing an IGR and participating in the monthly Intergroup meeting.
Treasurer’s Report
Our Treasurer, Teddy B.-W., reported that EBI took in $8,137 including $5,724 in contributions. After expenses, there is a net loss of $5,302. As expected, expenses this month were unusually high because they included back payroll taxes of $4,082, our annual nonprofit insurance of $959, and
annual Zoom subscription of $260. Our Prudent Reserve is over $55,000, and we have over $11,000 cash in hand. See May Financials.
Office Administrator’s Report
Bookstore prices increased June 1, as approved by the Intergroup Representatives last month. Living Sober is back in stock. Lindsay P., Office Administrator, is looking for an extra bookcase. Please contact her if you have one to donate. Lindsay is also creating a list of volunteers to check on Zoom meetings. She is asking that people attend Zoom meetings that are listed in the directory to confirm that they are still active. Please contact her for more information.
Board of Directors
James R., filling in for Walter W. this month, reported that the board heard a presentation from Claudia G. on the need for in-person meetings with American Sign Language interpretation. The Board has created a Technology Advisory Group to help with the website and office technology. Board openings are approaching. There will be an application on the website.
Intergroup Meeting Group Inventory
The list of inventory questions was unanimously approved. There was discussion on what IGRs should ask their groups, and it was stressed they have broad discretion. Next month we hope to choose a date for the inventory.
Special Events
One important position that remains open is Special Events Chair. In the past, we have held All Groups Day in September, so it was decided to begin planning for it while trying to fill the position. September 17 was chosen as a tentative date.
The next East Bay Intergroup meeting is Wednesday, July 19, at 7 pm.
