Alcoholism Recovery Program

Nominating Committee

PURPOSE:

The Eastbay Intergroup Nominating Committee performs an important task in fulfilling the time-honored spirit of service rotation in Alcoholics Anonymous. The nominating committee announces, actively promotes, and creates a pool of candidates to fill service board positions for Eastbay Intergroup. This committee assists in the timely transition of service board positions with the ultimate goal of supporting our member groups in reaching the alcoholic who still suffers.

THE PROCESS:

There are five Service Board positions that rotate quarterly. These rotations are staggered to prevent an immediate change of all board members at one time. Service Board candidates must be voted in at the Intergroup Meeting by Intergroup Representatives.

Here are the details of this service position.

  1. There are 4 service positions on this committee.
  2. Service Board positions rotate quarterly, and terms are for 15 months. Nominating Committee members commit to a minimum of two-quarters of service. (6 months)
  3. The Nominating Committee works independently from the Service Board. Committee members contact candidates and attain their commitment to serve on the Service Board. Candidates attend the monthly Intergroup meeting where they are nominated, resulting in a vote by Intergroup Representatives. All Service Board candidates must be voted in at the Intergroup meeting.
  4. For questions or if interested in this service, contact the Intergroup Office Coordinator: Email: officecoordinator@eastbayaa.org. Call: 510-220-6710

By our Twelve Steps we have recovered, by our Twelve Traditions we have unified, and through our Third Legacy -- Service -- we shall carry the AA message down through the corridors of time to come.
