Here’s the latest on what’s happening at East Bay Intergroup:
Notes from the Intergroup meeting held October 19. There were 17 IGRs and 8 others present. Does your group have an Intergroup Representative (IGR)? Be sure your group’s voice is being heard by electing an IGR and participating in the monthly Intergroup meeting.
NEW THIS MONTH
Special Events Budget
Tim C., from the Board of Directors, pointed out that a new budget for Special Events had to be approved now that we are returning to in-person events and have elected Hank W. as the new Special Events Chair. The IGRs in attendance unanimously approved a budget of $2,000 for renting venues and other expenses incurred for large events. The first such event will be Gratitude Night on November 17. Please see the accompanying post in this issue.
Meetings for the Deaf Alcoholic
Claudia G., the co-chair of Area 06 Accessibilities Committee, who is also on our Board of Directors, made a presentation on how to improve access to meetings for the deaf alcoholic. Before the pandemic there were several meetings with American Sign Language interpretation. Since meetings went online, that need was considered less urgent, but deaf and hearing-impaired alcoholics still need in-person meetings. Claudia encouraged East Bay Intergroup to have one in-person ASL-interpreted meeting and to be prepared with resources when the deaf alcoholic reaches out.
East Bay Intergroup has decided to take an inventory at the end of the year. IGRs are encouraged to ask their groups how they think EBI is doing and have inventory questions to consider at the November meeting. Questions will be finalized then and the actual inventory conducted at the December meeting.
Liza H., Beginners Chair, announced that a third beginners meeting is in the planning stages. It will meet online on Fridays at 7pm. The original beginners meeting meets Tuesdays at 7pm, and a second one was recently added on Sundays at 7pm. Liza will be stepping down from her position at the end of the year. Group Contributions September – Intergroup took in $7,611 in
7th tradition contributions for September, far more than the previous month.
This brings the average per month year-to-date
to $5,338. The average monthly contribution for 2021 was
Profit and Loss September – There was a net profit in September of $3,471,
with a net operating loss for the year of $1,543.
Board of Directors Report
Two Board Members will be rotating out of their positions
at the end of the year, Tim C. in the Treasurer position and
Claudia G. in the Secretary position. The board is looking
for people with legal, financial, or administrative
experience with non-profits. If you would like to serve or

Helpline and Chatline
Paul D., the new Helpline Chair, announced that there are open shifts
on Wednesday and Thursday from 2am – 6am. This is a great opportunity to
give back and be reminded of what it’s like to be the
alcoholic who still suffers. Help keep the Helpline going—

Zach O-M. reported that there are three open shifts on the
Chatline that need filling: Wednesday 10am – 2pm, Wednesday 2pm – 6pm, and
Sunday 6pm – 10pm. If you can help out and grab one of
