In the summer of 2020, Mary M. contacted then-Intergroup Office Administrator James R., inquiring about whether Central Office needed help documenting guidelines for Zoom and in-person meetings. James declined the offer but asked Mary to help recruit newsletter committee members and start a newsletter.
James, Mary and others recruited additional members and the newsletter committee was born. Mary has been Chair of the Newsletter Committee since that time. The first issue was sent in December 2020 and the East Bay Intergroup newsletter, Intergroup Scoop, has published monthly ever since (with the exception of the annual January hiatus and including extra holiday editions).
Mary’s contribution has included: developing a Style Guide, documenting newsletter team decisions and processes, editorial review of posts and emails, and many other admin/behind-the-scenes types of responsibilities. Her goal has been to create standards and documents such that new team members can easily step in and the newsletter can continue to function seamlessly.
This year, Mary is stepping back from the Newsletter Chair role and team meetings, but will continue reviewing posts, as well as finalizing some of the docs on the Google drive.
