Notes from the Intergroup Meeting held September 20, 2023
Tim C. made a presentation on how East Bay Intergroup could benefit from hosting a WhatsApp group.
The EBI inventory will be held on October 11 at 6pm at the same Zoom location as the regular meeting.
Our current reserve stands at $55,000. A motion was made to establish a prudent reserve of 7 months expenses or $60,000, whichever is greater.
Treasurer’s Report
Contributions for August were $9,187 including $4,787. After expenses of $10,308, there is a net deficit of $1,120. Some of these expenses were annual fees, like our PO box, that happen to fall in August. See July Financials.
Board of Directors
Walter W. reported for the board. Elections are coming up in December for at least two positions, including treasurer. If you would like to apply or know someone to nominate, please see the application form.
EBI Chair, Scott W., added that the board had to approve an $1,800 expenditure for Quickbooks. This is $150 a month for 12 months. There was no other way to fix the problem with Quickbooks.
Intergroup Chair
Scott W. reported that All Groups day was a great success. He reminded everyone that we still need an Events Chair. Contact Scott W. at sjw2131@gmail.com if you can serve.
Old and New Business
Old business regarding funding ASL for an existing meeting was tabled because Patricia, who has led on this issue, was not present.
The Finance Sub-committee advised that the prudent reserve be established at 6 months of expenses. This would be approximately $47,000. Some wondered if this would be sufficient since circumstances might change. Our current reserve stands at $55,000. After discussion, Maryann made a motion that we establish a prudent reserve of 7 months expenses or $60,000, whichever is greater. The motion will be voted on next month.
Tim C. made a presentation on how East Bay Intergroup could benefit from hosting a WhatsApp group. It would be free to run, although it would take 3 or 4 volunteers to monitor. Discussion will continue next month.
Reminder: Intergroup Meeting Group Inventory Date Set for October 11
The EBI inventory will be held on October 11 at 6pm at the same Zoom location as the regular meeting. Intergroup has been discussing the inventory since last year and the inventory questions have been selected. Everyone is welcome to attend, not just Intergroup Reps.
